Criminology (QQI Level 5)

This full-time one-year programme will examine the area of criminology, in particular criminal behaviour and criminal law. It will give students the knowledge, skill and competence of the principles and practice underpinning criminal law and the application of criminal law in legal practice.

Leaving Certificate or QQI Level 4, or equivalent standard of education.  All applicants are subject to an interview and an online assessment.

€50 QQI Level 5 Certification Fee. (Medical Card holders or those in receipt of a Social Welfare payment are exempt from this Certification Fee.)

VTOS: If you are over 21 years of age, are unemployed and have been getting certain social welfare payments for at least 6 months you can apply for the Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme (VTOS). Successful applicants can receive a VTOS payment for the duration of the course, instead of their social welfare payment.  Small meal and travel allowances may also apply.
