Forensic Science (QQI Level 5)
This full-time one-year programme offers an introduction to forensic science and its application to criminal law. Students will gain practical skills in the science laboratory as well as gaining knowledge of the criminal law system in Ireland. Progression is possible into chemistry and forensic related courses and these, in turn, link to professions in An Garda Síochána, the Defence Forces and Forensic Science Labs.

Leaving Certificate or QQI Level 4, or equivalent standard of education. All applicants are subject to an interview and an online assessment. Garda Vetting may also be required, depending on work placement setting.

€50 QQI Level 5 Certification Fee – Medical Card holders or those in receipt of a Social Welfare payment are exempt from this Certification Fee.
VTOS: If you are over 21 years of age, are unemployed and have been getting certain social welfare payments for at least 6 months you can apply for the Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme (VTOS). Successful applicants can receive a VTOS payment for the duration of the course, instead of their social welfare payment. Small meal and travel allowances may also apply.
